RIGHTFOOTED accepted as part of DocuLab

RIGHTFOOTED was among a select few projects selected for Film Independent’s prestigious Documentary Lab. DocuLab is designed to help during the post-production phase on a film. Several past participants who have gone on to complete excellent work spoke during the sessions, among them Andrew Droz Palermo & Tracy Droz Tragos, whose “Rich Hill” won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival. There were also a series of accomplished mentors who consulted on individual films including Academy Award winning editor Doug Blush (“20 Feet from Stardom”), Laura Gabbert (“No Impact Man”), Linda Goldstein-Knowlton (“Somewhere Between”), Sundance programmer Caroline Libresco (“Sunset Story”), and Jeff Malmberg and Chris Shellen (“Marwencol”). Guest speakers at the Lab included Peter Broderick on Marketing and Distribution, Chris Perez of Donaldson & Califf on Legal Issues for Documentarians, and Susan Littenberg on her film “Everything Is Going Fine.”

It was a wonderful experience to roundtable RIGHTFOOTED with this group, and to see other films in progress and meet the filmmakers. The film topics ranged from a portrait of a man who chose to have a sex change operation late in life for uncommon reasons, to a study of the plight of migrant workers in the carnival industry, to a film about a fake rock band created as a cover to (get this) bring a group of Israelis and Palestinians together. And much more!
